Sirens Seafood posted on Facebook that the fire ripped through the building on Route 36 on Monday, May 27. The restaurant in the Leonardo section of Middletown was closed and no one was injured.
The restaurant, which opened in December 2023, thanked the firefighters who responded "within minutes on a holiday."
"To our amazing customers, we will have more information soon, but we are not giving up hope just yet for a brighter tomorrow," Sirens posted. "We are absolutely devastated right now and are still processing what happened. We appreciate all of your support and we may need your support more than ever in the coming weeks.
"For now, we are just hugging one another and thanking God that we and our first responders are all safe ❤️."
Sirens was previously home to TSTBBQ and Hole in One Miniature Golf. A Facebook post from Wednesday, May 1 showed renovations on the mini-golf course and the goal was to open it on Memorial Day weekend.
The restaurant's menu features dishes like soft shell crab sandwiches, tuna tataki, and blackened mahi sandwiches. Sirens also had a seafood market with fresh fish and clams for sale.
Fans of the restaurant offered their support on Facebook.
"So, so sorry," one commenter wrote. "Saturday’s dinner was great. Please know how valued Sirens is and come back soon."
"This is such horrible news," another person commented. "Praying for you folks and hoping you can rebound and rebuild from this awful stroke of misfortune."
The restaurant said it didn't yet know what caused the fire.
